Strong and positive values are integral to our College and we aim to build a culture of respect in our community towards God, others, self and our environment by aligning our policies and practices with Christian principles.About the RoleThe Scots College, Sydney, is looking for an exceptional educator to join the ScotsX Team, designing and delivering the next phase of a personalised ‘school-within-a-school’ experience for Middle School boys.The ScotsX program started in January 2023 with a pilot cohort of 20 Year 8 boys and 2 Learning Designers. Based on extensive research and experimentation at Scots and beyond, ScotsX centres on greater connection, choice and challenge for boys. It tailors learning to their needs at the critical developmental stage of early adolescence, a period of significant brain development and identity formation.Experiencing significant success in its first year in student achievement and character growth, the program is expanding in 2024 to 40 boys and 3 Learning Designers to test the model’s impact at a larger scale as part of the planned development of our Middle School programs in future years.Are you:eager to work in an energetic 'start-up' team to co-design a new model of school?a committed, creative and highly effective educator ready to take on a new adventure?skilled in designing rigorous project-based, integrative and experiential learning for students?passionate about boys’ character formation through deep relationships and challenging experiences?As a ScotsX Learning Designer, you’ll embrace a ‘how might we?’ mindset, working across the curriculum to design rigorous, relational and real-world learning experiences for Year 8 boys. Without the usual constraints of timetables, bells, and discrete subjects, you’ll have a unique opportunity to co-create an adventurous and challenging program of academic excellence and character growth.You’ll also be part of an action research team. Designed as a laboratory for rapidly learning, ScotsX will continue to be carefully evaluated to see what impact it has on student development and what lessons can be learnt for reinventing education across our College and beyond. Partnering with world-leading education scholars and the Scots Research Office, this is a unique opportunity to learn about assessing and developing effective innovation.This is a 2 year fixed term contract starting full-time from January 2024, with opportunity to renew and develop other teachers.
